WHY OPERATORS SWITCH

The METRC label workflow you actually want.

Cannabis compliance is already the hard part of the business. Your label system shouldn’t be the thing that wakes you up at 2am.

Before

The status-quo METRC label stack

  • Manually export METRC package data, massage CSVs in Excel, then paste into a label template every batch.
  • Pray the ZPL template didn't shift when the package UID encoding changed.
  • Keep a 12-month paper log because "IT will add METRC to the label system next quarter."
  • Pay for a printing tool that almost handles cannabis and a separate compliance tool that kind of handles labels.
  • Scramble when your state rolls out a METRC rule change; update Word templates by hand.
With Tagestry

Tagestry-powered METRC workflow

  • Point Tagestry at your METRC API key. Package tags, lab results, and terpene data stream in live.
  • Template variables are bound to METRC fields. One edit updates every state, every printer, every job.
  • Full audit log of every label printed, tied to the originating METRC package UID.
  • One tool. One license. One vendor. Labels and compliance in the same pipeline.
  • Rule changes are a template update, not a project.
EVERY LABEL TYPE

Every compliance label METRC asks for: in one designer.

Tagestry ships with templates for every METRC-regulated label surface. Start from a template, bind to METRC fields, print.

Package tags

Scan-ready UID barcodes and QR codes pulled live from METRC package endpoints. Every transfer, every shipment.

Lab-result labels

Full-color cannabinoid and terpene panels, rendered pixel-accurate on Epson ColorWorks. Greek letters, percentages, pass/fail: formatted correctly on every run.

Terpene profiles

Variable-data terpene panels bound to METRC lab-result fields. Templates stay fixed; data fills in per package.

Compliance banners

State-specific warning text, Rx icons, child-resistant indicators, all configurable per jurisdiction.

Inventory & wholesale

Case-level and pallet-level labels for distribution. UCC/GS1 barcodes, METRC UIDs, and product SKUs in one pass.

Destroyed / manifest

Destroyed package labels with METRC UID + reason code. Transfer manifest labels for every leg of the shipment.

LIVE METRC INTEGRATION

Designer + METRC, side by side.

Bind any label element to a METRC field with one click. The preview updates live as package data refreshes. When you print, the UID barcode, lot, cannabinoid profile, and packaging date all come from METRC, not an outdated spreadsheet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

METRC questions, answered straight.

Which states does Tagestry support for METRC label printing?+
Every jurisdiction that operates on METRC, currently 28 markets: Alabama, Alaska, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Guam, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, US Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Does Tagestry pull data directly from METRC?+
Yes. Configure Tagestry with your facility's METRC API key and we stream live package, harvest, and lab-result data into the designer. You bind template fields to METRC fields once; every print after that uses whatever METRC has right now.
What happens when my state rolls out a METRC rule change?+
You edit the template. Because every label element binds to a METRC field (rather than a one-off data export), rule changes become a template update: not a project. Versioning keeps a history of every template revision for audit.
What printers does Tagestry drive for compliance labels?+
Native Zebra ZPL (ZT, ZD, ZQ series), TSC TSPL, and Epson ColorWorks full-color (CW-C6000 and CW-C6500). PrintNode is supported for cloud relay; QZ Tray handles local bridging when the host is off-network.
Can Tagestry render full-color terpene and cannabinoid panels?+
Yes. The designer renders Greek letters (α, β, γ, δ - plus δ-9, δ-8, δ-10 for cannabinoid notation), per-cannabinoid and per-terpene panels with numeric precision, and variable-data bar and QR codes. Epson ColorWorks is driven natively for pixel-accurate color output.
Can we run Tagestry on our own servers for compliance reasons?+
Yes. Tagestry deploys on your own infrastructure (Docker Compose or a bare VM), in a managed cloud, or as a standalone Windows / macOS / Linux desktop app, whichever fits your security posture and IT constraints.
Does Tagestry support SSO, audit logging, and role-based access?+
Yes. Keycloak-backed SSO integrates with any OIDC or SAML identity provider you already run. Role-based access control, full audit logging (tied back to METRC package UIDs), and multi-tenant isolation are built-in, not paid add-ons.
How long does it take to get the first compliant label out the door?+
Most teams are printing inside one business day: hour one connects METRC and loads a template, hour two calibrates the first Zebra or Epson, and by afternoon the spooler is running batch jobs. We stay with you through the first week of production printing.
